• The COACB defends the strategic value of the commercial profession after two jobs linked to sales are among the 10 most outstanding in Catalonia.
Barcelona, April 29, 2026. The Official College of Commercial Agents of Barcelona (COACB) values very positively the data published by the Observatory of Labor and Productive Model of the Generalitat de Catalunya, which place two professions directly linked to the commercial field among the 10 best positioned occupations in Catalonia this 2026, commercial (“other sellers”) and another that specifies the specialization in sale of ICT products (“ICT sales professionals”).
The report, drawn up on the basis of indicators such as employment contracts, quality of contracts and demand for employment, confirms the strength and adaptability of a sector that remains key to the country's economic and business development.
From the COACB it is considered that these data reinforce a reality that the College has been defending for decades: the commercial profession not only remains essential, but increasingly becomes more strategic in an economic and business environment in full transformation.
The president of the COACB, Ricard Penas, highlights that “these data confirm that the commercial profession continues to be one of the most valuable and promising jobs in the Catalan labour market”. Penas underlines that the evolution of the market and digital transformation are making the commercial profile evolve towards more specialized profiles, especially in sectors linked to technology, digitalization and business generation. “In an increasingly digitized environment, the value of the commercial professional does not disappear; it evolves. Companies continue to need professionals capable of generating trust, building relationships and boosting economic activity,” he adds.
The COACB recalls that the commercial sector is one of the main engines of the Catalan economy and claims the need to prestige the commercial profession, promote specialized training and attract new talent to the sector. In this sense, the College defends the need to promote initiatives that strengthen the role of commercial professionals within the business fabric and recognize their direct contribution to competitiveness, economic growth and business dynamization.
This recognition also comes in a particularly significant year for the COACB, which celebrates its centenary, reaffirming its commitment to the defense, evolution and professionalization of the commercial profession. Thus, the COACB reaffirms its willingness to continue working to give visibility and support to commercial professionals and consolidate its role as key agents of the economic and business development of Catalonia.
